A SIMPLE WORKFLOW

From a little clutter to a little clarity.

01

Add English prose

Use complete sentences for a more useful estimate.

02

Read the measurements

Sentence and syllable estimates are approximate, especially for names and abbreviations.

03

Edit one thing at a time

Split a crowded sentence, define a term, or bring the main point forward. Recheck after editing.

A LITTLE MORE CLARITY

Good questions.
Honest answers.

Everything you need to know before you write.

What is a readability score?+

A readability formula estimates difficulty from measurable features such as sentence length and syllables per word. It does not understand whether your explanation is accurate, useful, well organized, or familiar to your reader.

Why are the results approximate?+

English syllable counting and sentence boundaries are not perfectly predictable from spelling and punctuation. Names, abbreviations, lists, and code can distort the calculation.

What score should I aim for?+

There is no universal target. Public instructions often benefit from shorter sentences and familiar words. Specialist writing may require detail and terminology. Ask whether the intended reader can understand and act on the text.

Does this work for other languages?+

The formulas in this release are designed for English. Applying them to another language can produce misleading results.
